When eating in Old Town Alexandria there is a plethora of choices. I have eaten at Virtue Grain and Feed three times and I am never disappointed. Their service is very good and the menu adequate to appeal to many tastes. I visited last week and sat outside. All the servers were wearing masks and the tables were socially distant. Since the bottom of King Street is now closed to through traffic - I might be more likely to eat outside at one of those establishments. In times past, I have avoided eating outside since it is sooo close to the road! It just is not that appealing. That is why I have chosen Virtue Feed and Grain because they had outdoor seating with a peak of the Potomac River. Being set back from the street, it just had better ambiance.
Sorry folks I am just not crazy about eating in traffic! These are unprecedented times, but I draw the line at eating next to the road with cars whizzing by!
My favorite item for lunch is the French Dip Sandwich with DUCK FAT FRIES! If you have never had fries in duck fat you are missing out.
If you have a moment after eating, head up the street to the Spice and Tea Exchange of Alexandria. They have some great treats for yourself or for hostess gifts!
